Lyrebirds are among Australia'sbest-known native birds, even though they are rarely seen in their natural habitat. As well as their extraordinary mimicking ability, lyrebirds are notable because of the striking beauty of the male bird's huge tail when it is fanned out in display; and also because of their courtship display.
A lyrebird's call is a rich mixture of its own song and any number of other sounds it has heard. The lyrebird's syrinx is the most complexly-muscled of the songbirds, giving the lyrebird extraordinary ability, unmatched in vocal repertoire and mimicry. Lyrebirds render with great fidelity the individual songs of other birds and the chatter of flocks of birds, and also mimic other animals, human noises, machinery of all kinds, explosions, and musical instruments. The lyrebird is capable of imitating almost any sound — from a mill whistle to a cross-cut saw, and, not uncommonly, sounds as diverse as chainsaws, car engines and car alarms, fire alarms, rifle-shots, camera shutters, dogs barking and crying babies. Lyrebirds are shy birds and a constant stream of bird calls coming from one place is often the only way of identifying them and their presence. The female lyrebird is also an excellent mimic, but she is not heard as often as the male lyrebird.

Sunset Vigil

The news is spread far and wide

A sunset vigil upon the sand

As a soldier leaves this foreign land

Henry Allingham, British first world war veteran, dies at 113

Henry William Allingham, the world's oldest man and one of the last surviving first world war servicemen, has died at the age of 113.
Born in 1896 to an ironmonger's wife in a corner of north-east London, the veteran, whose life spanned three centuries and six monarchs, was 67 when John F Kennedy was assassinated and 73 when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.
He died this morning at the St Dunstan's care home in Ovingdean, near Brighton, East Sussex.Allingham was 14 when the war broke out. His mother begged him not to join the military, but a year after her death in 1915 he signed up.
The teenager could not have guessed he would became a symbol of the sacrifice of a generation. At the time of his death, he was the last surviving founder member of the RAF, the last man to have witnessed the Battle of Jutland and the last surviving member of the Royal Naval Air Service.
When asked recently how he had lived so long, Allingham, who held the Legion d'Honneur, said: "I don't know if there is a secret, but keeping within your capacity is vital. I've had two major breakdowns, one during the war and one after, but both when I was trying to do the work of three men. The trick is to look after yourself and always know your limitations."
It was his experiences during the war that defined the man, but for more than 80 years he refused to speak about it. After the war, Allingham went into the motor industry, eventually joining the design department at Ford before retiring in 1961.
He was finally persuaded by Dennis Goodwin who, as founder of the First World War Veterans' Association, organised reunions and trips for old soldiers.
"He'd answer the door and not let me in," recalled Goodwin, his carer and the ghost writer of his memoirs. "He'd say, 'I want to forget the war, I don't want to talk about it'. But I sent him letters about the reunions and gradually he let me in and we got talking. Eventually I got him out of his flat in Eastbourne and took him to the pier. He met other veterans and started to think, 'I could do this'. It was a very slow process – he's essentially a very private man."
Once Allingham started talking, it became clear that the scenes he witnessed of soldiers waiting to go over the top at Ypres never left him. "They would just stand there in 2ft of water in mud-filled trenches, waiting to go forward," he said. "They knew what was coming. It was pathetic to see those men like that. I don't think they have ever got the admiration and respect they deserved."
He remembered spending a night in a shellhole in Flanders. "It stank," he said. "So did I when I fell into it. Arms and legs, dead rats, dead everything. Rotten flesh. Human guts. I couldn't get a bath for three or four months afterwards."
In recent years, Allingham attended remembrance events at home and abroad, gave interviews to the media, visited schools to talk to children at least 100 years his junior and completed an autobiography, published last October.
He and his wife, Dorothy, were together for more than 50 years. "I've only ever kissed one girl: my Dorothy," he said. "We met in 1915 and married in 1918. She died in 1970. I never gave my cherry away when I went to the front. I know a lot of men who did."
Allingham leaves a family that includes five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.
Until the end of his life, Allingham's memory was sharp. Born the year the first modern Olympics were held and Queen Victoria's became the longest reigning monarch in British history, he was able to recall times that are long lost history to most of us.
"When I was 15, I came downstairs one morning, picked up mother's newspaper and, oh, what a shock! The Titanic had gone," he recalled. "The 'unsinkable' ship – but it had gone down so simple."
The former Ford worker remembered a time when cars were a rarity. "People drive fast today," he said. "When I was born the speed limit was two miles an hour. They'd only just repealed the law where a man had to walk in front of every motor car waving a flag."
He had two explanations for his longevity. The first, which proved age had not dimmed his sense of humour, was "cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women".The second, however, was perhaps more thoughtful: "How have I lived so long? I never worried. In the20s there were millions of men out of work. You couldn't get a job anywhere. I wasn't worried. I'm not worried now.," he said. "I was cycling along Rotten Row one day when I saw George V come along on his horse. I took my cap off, and the King tipped his riding crop. And I said, 'Give me a job, sir, I'll do anything for you.' But it was lost in the clatter of the hooves." Max Arthur, author of the first world war oral history Last Post, had yet another explanation: "He was a very dignified, very gentle man. He was so surprised to survive the first world war that he saw whatever came next as a reward. He made the most of his life. It does exemplify in my mind that, whatever age you are, never give up, and when in doubt, sing, which is what he still does. Sheer defiance is the reason he keeps going."

Spreading Grandma's Ashes During A Skydive

Wow! To watch the people of Iran protesting and refusing to acknowledge Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner the election leaves me speechless. I ask myself “could I would I be as brave”? Protestors are being thrown from bridges, shot, disappearing and imprisoned in real (real) prisons to die a very painful and slow death. Could you? Pray they can stand strong and achieve the rights and freedoms that every human on this planet deserves. God bless them all.

Just when you think you got that ride of life figured out… BAM! Right upside head! So for the past few weeks the car on this ride jumped the tracks and took out the “insanely annoying” singing Kids of It’s a Small World. And believe me when I tell you when it really is “A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL!”

From: 'David LaBonte' My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed.. So, I decided to 'print' it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

Dear Editor: So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought alongside men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France , and Japan . None of these first generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini, and the Emperor of Japan They were defending the United States of Americas one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages was looking for the French-American or the German- American or the Irish-American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2008 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

Early Sunday morning in Lexington Maryland a 27 year old woman was “airlifted” to Prince George’s County Hospital for injuries she sustained while having consensual sex. Her boyfriend had this bright idea to attach a sex toy to a saber saw blade. The woman wanting to try something new let him use the high powered homemade device on her. WOW! What could possible go wrong. The saw blade cut through the plastic toy severely injuring the woman. The woman was released from the hospital Monday and is recovering from her unusual injuries at home. Do you think these two ingenious people will take the manufactures of the saw and the sex toy to court for not telling them not to use these two items together? Some people prefer to call them caskets, or coffins, some go with toe pinchers or sarcophagus. A burial container by any name is still holder of person’s remains for all eternity.

Then again is it real “just” a container? To some it is representing an aspect of there life. This is your resting place for all eternity so you might want to take the time and visit a local funeral home to preorder your casket. Would you really want the people with Elvis TV trays and book selves made from old lumber and cinder blocks found out back of the Piggly-Wiggly picking something you will be in for eternity? You know that will pick one you wouldn’t want to be caught dead in (sorry had to go there)!

Here are just a few ideas…

An Australian company (LifeArt) has come up with this stylish line of casket that can be custom designed to reflect the occupant inside.

Next we have the most earthly looking eco-coffin are Capsula Mundi, created by a pair of Italian designers who want to remove the taboo from the burial process by giving it a new conception. The egg-shaped container is made of bioplastic and is designed so the deceased rests inside in the fetal position. The capsule is then “planted” in the earth like a bulb with a shallow circular depression dug above to symbolize the presence of the body and then tree is planted in this depression. In this economy people are looking to get the most bangs for their buck. So why not pick a coffin that you can use now and later. A bed you say? Why yes a bed is great idea. If your family should find that you expired peacefully in your sleep (or any other activity you might be doing while in your bed) they just have to slap the lid closed and bingo your ready to go with no fuss. I would strongly advice against getting this type of bed for a child. It’s best to stick with the big scary clown beds (sorry I digress). The possibilities are endless.

The Congress not just working on the stimulus bill

U.S. Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) recently sponsored H.R. 45, also known as "Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act." The bill is, at its core and as its name implies a licensing and registration scheme. This is essentially a reintroduction of H.R. 2666, that Rush introduced in 2007. H.R. 2666 contained some of the same language as H.R. 45, and was cosponsored by several well known anti gun legislators that includes chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

The measure calls for all handgun owners to submit to the federal government an application that shall include, among many other things: a photo; an address; a thumbprint; a completed, written firearm safety test; private mental health records; and a fee. These are just a few of the requirements to get licensed.

The bill would also require the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer, and owner's address in America. This bill will also make it illegal to own or possess a "qualifying firearm" -- defined as "any handgun; or any semiautomatic firearm that can accept any detachable ammunition feeding device… without one of the proposed licenses. In addition the bill would make it illegal to transfer ownership of a "qualifying firearm" to anyone who is not a licensed gun dealer or collector (with very few exceptions), and would require "qualifying firearm" owners to report all transfers to the attorney general's database. It would also be illegal for a licensed gun owner to fail to record a gun loss or theft within 72 hours, or fail to report a change of address within 60 days. Further, if a minor obtains a firearm and injures someone with it, the owner of the firearm may face a multiple-year jail sentence.
What I want to know is, “What is the purpose of H.R. 45? Why is it needed? To me the only people this bill will benefit are the ILLEGAL gun owners. Why do some people seem to think more gun laws will not help to prevent gun violence in this country? All this is doing is taking away the rights of private citizens in this country to own guns. Why the Federal database? This only increases the size of the federal government and adds more to the federal budget.

An UNFIT mother. My rant

Why is that unfit “mother” who gave birth to Octuplets not sitting in jail at this very moment and her children removed from her custody?
Before you start posting comments saying “It is her body and she has a right to do what she wants with it.” Let me tell you just a few of the reason she should be in jail…
She received disability payments for an on-the-job back injury during a riot at a state mental hospital, (she should have been a patient there not a worker) collecting more than $165,000 over nearly a decade these benefits were discontinued only the past year meaning her back was hurt bad enough for her to be unable to work. But she could care eight (8) babies at one time. I know how much my back hurt with just one and I had a strong back. Can we all say fraud?
She receives welfare (food stamps etc.) meaning she is “POOR” and needs government help feed and caring for her other six (6) children with three (3) of them getting disability payments and has enough money to get in vetro. This is not let me repeat NOT a cheap procedure. Where did this money come from and why was it not used to take care of the children she already has?
These are only two of the many crimes she is and has committed.
Before I go I just want to mention the part of an interview I heard her give when she said “I will go back to California State University, Fullerton in the fall to complete my master’s degree in counseling, and will use student loans to support her children. She said she will rely on the school’s daycare center and volunteers.”
How can this whore think that people are going to “VOLUNTEER” their time to raise her children while she takes her self centered ass back to school on the tax payers’ money? She planed to have this many babies it wasn’t a surprise! Why didn’t she finish school first? Or why didn’t she do this while sitting around with her back injury? If she thinks that she is going to get to use the school’s daycare she is even a bigger self center whore then I first thought! What about the other parents that need child care? A daycare can only take so many children at one time. So where does she think these other families should take their children?
Hey! Whore Bitch takes your head out of your ASS! Your brain is really in need of some oxygen. Do you not understand that when you selfishly made the choice to have six (6) already implanted then added two (2) more embryos you made the choice at that very moment to raise fourteen (14) children? Wake up bitch there are no more dances on your dance card. It is not time to pay the piper. It is NOT let me repeat that for you NOT about you any more. You want to go back to school? Too late should have thought about that before you got this idea that having all these babies would make everyone fall over themselves to help you. I feel sorry for your old children because you act like the type of “mother” that will make them raise their younger siblings giving up their lives while you worry about yourself. Now these are your choices and you get to make them, do you do dish first or laundry? Those are your only choice until these babies that did not ask to be borne are 18 years old. You are going to be at home washing dishes, clothes and cleaning a house because you can not think that any other person is going to “VOLENTEER” to help a dumb ass bitch that thinks she is owed something just because she had eight (8) babies on top of already having six (6) and thinks the tax payers should pay for all of this. How about the doctor who planted these babies start paying to raise them? How dare you just impregnate this crazy whacked out whore and not care about the children?
Both the “doctor” and “mother” should burn in hell for this awful crime they are committing on these children and the tax payers.

Carpool Lanes

I was driving home from work when I was noticing just how many cars were not using the carpool lane. Why is it a single person in a vehicle will be ticketed for driving in a lane that they are paying for and vehicle that has two or more drives is free to drive in any lane that they wish? There are a great number of vehicles that should be in that lane and are not rather they are taking space of the lanes we other drivers are forced to use. GET THE HELL OUT OF MY LANES AND USE THE ONE THAT IS NOT BEING USED AND WAS DESIGNED FOR YOUR OCCUPANSY! These morons are using the other lanes and adding to the traffic. Why are they not given a ticket? Why are they free to use any lane? Are they just trying to show the rest of the single occupant vehicles that they can use any of the lanes on the road and we can’t?
I will use the carpool lanes at the I-5 I-405 interchange only because people on the roads do not understand the concept of merging in traffic. ZIPPER people! It is easy one car goes then another goes. If people would drive this way there would be no need for the stupid meter lights on to the freeway. The other reason for the back up at that point is Highway 167 exit. People that take that exit wait until the last minute to get over and then come to a stop because for some reason the people (the ones that got over like they should have) won’t let them in and I don’t blame them. They waited for their turn to exit. These dumb asses are so intent on getting a few cars ahead that they are willing to back up traffic and possible be the cause of any accident.
Being that my tax dollars are spent on these wasted lanes I will use them. On highway 167 you can pay to drive in these lanes and that seem to be a bit of a rip off. You pay twice for the RIGHT to travel in these lanes. Why is the tax payer forced to pay a second time? And another thing that is a problem in traffic is those big truck drivers. Why are trucks traveling in the left lane? The problem with trucks driving in these lanes is so simple even I understand them, NO ONE CAN SEE AROUND THEM. And in stop and go traffic they are slower to start moving again.
While on the subject of trucks (talking big ones not 4x4) why are they going 60mph? Are they not suppose to be going 50mph. In the drivers hand book it states that big trucks are to go 10mph less then the posted speed for the other vehicles. And why is this not posted? On the other side of the mountains it is posted.
I don’t want to leave out that good old turn signal. It used to be that a driver would use a turn single to let others know they were either going to exit from the highway or changing lanes Now it is the signal to all other people they had better speed up or else someone is going to “cut” in front of them. When a driver needs to get over so that they can exit and they are foolish enough to use the turn signal in the proper manner they might as while stay where they are because everyone behind them in the lane the they are moving to will speed up and ride the persons bumper in front of them making sure you don’t “cut’ in front of them. Not letting a person over only causes more delays in as that person has to slow down to make a lane change.
Why is that people follow the person in front of them as if they are being towed by that car? Do they believe that by following that close some how they will be pulled by that car and saving them gas? When I learned to drive the rule was it was safe to move over (after checking your mirrors) when the car was safely in front of you. Now if you follow that rule when you look to make sure it is clear Mr. or Ms dumb ass is right in your blind spot and will get all crazy on your ass for nearly hitting them. And now you get that new problem of “road rage or as I call it "The latte sidrome."
A great many of are traffic problems can be blamed on over cafindated drivers. Seattleites drink way too much of it and then they can’t sit still and have zero tolerents for anyone that is not hitting warp speeds. They are overly stimulated with an over dose of caffeine that they have they have no choice in traffic unable to fly down the road forcing to use their middle finger as much as they can. The act of extending their middle figure coupled with waving of the arms in a wild manner and bouncing up and down is there only outlet they have for caffeine rush they are experiencing. So really it is not their fault they are being crazed loonies that could be running faster then the speed for which they are forced to travel. So try and giving the coffee a rest every now and then and others won’t be pissing you off as much.
I would like to leave you all with these parting words… If you are driving down that happy freeway to hell during rush hour and see me coming in your rear view mirror either put the pedal down or get the hell out of my way!!!

Heros and Lossers!

I want to give a big WOW! You rocked that landing Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger.

In just a few minutes with hundred of things to think about you brought that plan down and no major injuries. The best part of this was NO fatalities! This is a true “HERO!” To all the flight crew and passengers, who showed us all the power of prayer in action! While exiting the aircraft they all watched out for each other, helping each other in anyway they could. Very orderly and following the flight instruction is how one passenger put it. You hear of anyone pushing with that me first attitude. No it was calm and orderly. Way to show respected to another person and one that is helping you get your job done. You have helped to give a bit more hope in people.

If you get some time you might want to check CCN (sure others have it too) and watch the surveillance video. Part of one shows how quickly you see all passengers on the wings. Take note at how calm they all are. The other part of the video you see just how FAST others got to them. Now, to the media! You all need to learn something from these people. You are a bunch of self centered, uncaring slobs who all should have to go on your news station or write in your newspapers (even not many are reading them) and tell how SORRY you for not care about anyone but your own sorry ass! I have to wonder how you can sleep at night. What am I talking about? Notice the picture at the top? Can you tell what is wrong with them? HINT! Passenger Jeff Kolodijy was nice enough to speak to the media immediately after emerging from the frigid waters of the Hudson River. Keeping in mind what it the tempters was in New York that day and this man just got out of the Hudson River. Now take note of what he is wearing. No coat, short sleeves, a cap (not a hat only a cap) and pants. Notice the redness of is ears and nose (one of the first signs of frost bite). Then a reporter challenged him on not even being wet, Mr. Kolodijy then politely pointed out that his pants had been soaked and were now frozen solid on his legs. He patiently and graciously spoke to the media pack for another several minutes. Now look at the ill manner, self centered news media. They are wearing heavy winter coats, hats (artic ones with fur lining), scarf’s, winter boats, ear muffs and winter gloves still they are SHIVERING! It isn’t until after Mr. Kolodijy stood out in the cold did anyone gives him some warm clothes. If I am not mistaken it WASN’T ANY ONE FROM THE MEDIA. It looked to be a person that had just walked up to the group. Talk about a bunch of dumb asses. It goes to show you that the media thinks ONLY OF THEMSELVES. Sure must have made their mothers so proud.

Déjà Vu

I am sorry but the only way I can put my blonde mind around this is to think out loud and maybe if I do not get it someone else might will…
If you are going to run for any elected office in the United States of America and you run as a Democrat the ONLY way you can loose is if the other person takes the win by a very large margin one you can not request a recount. Of course it did not work the first time it was tried in the Bush/Gore. Had the courts not stepped in when they did and put a stop to the recounting over and over again the out come would have been very different. In the Washington state governor race in 2004 we all got an opportune to see this in action. The first count on election night gave the win to Rossi with 1,371,414 (48.88 percent) compared to Gregoir’s 1,371,153 (48.87 percent) for Gregoire... That night the director of the Gregoir’s transition-team announced the election was a, "virtual tie," and “We're going to make sure ... every single vote counts." Looking at this statement after the fact makes you really think (or read into it) that they some how know that they were going to find more votes that NOT been count. Then of course you keep counting until the Democrat person wins and than BANG no more counting. Rossi won the first two recounts and the third on he lost. So if you win two out three you loose? What is up with all votes being found and why isn’t this being looking into? In EVERY recount there are seems to be a large number of votes that are found, How can this be? How many times did any of our votes not get counted? So the moral of the story is “If you run against a Dem and count is close you might as well get a lawyer and start your legal challenges.
American votes wake up get mad and make the vote commission answer for not counting all votes from the start! We need to have some answer to this way of counting votes!!!!! There should be people put in jail for “mess placing vote.” The big question that we all should be asking WHY is it the only time votes are miss place is when there is a recount. If there is no recount and votes turn up (or found) is there another recount done even after the person has been serving the elected office? Why are there votes being missed place in the first place? Is there not a chain of custody being followed? How many times has my vote not been counted? How is the United States has people (Jimmy Carter) going to other countries to supervise there election and make sure they are done fairly? What about are counties, should there not be people from other countries over here watching us vote?

I started this post as you can see with the pictures that all mother “hope and pray” to one day see on the World Wide Web and in newspapers. Speaking as a mother I can not tell you joy these pictures would do for me. I would make them next years Christmas cards…NOT! Wow! I have to say I did not know that Britons had so much trouble with alcohol. After reading all the stories of all the fights people passed out on public streets, I have to wonder “Does the majority of this country have a drinking problem or what? What must this woman be thinking? To be this intoxicated where you pass out you are just asking for trouble. Besides these high class “ladies” passing and upchucking on the side walks there were a great many fights. Did Briton have an open bar night or what? You would think with the world’s economies clasping there would have been less people spending money on a “good time”!! Oh well, there are some proud parents out there.

WOW! This year really flew by! Still having trouble believing it is over already. This past year has seen a lot of changes. Some of them were good, some okay and then there were the ones that just made you want to slap somebody All in all I had a great year. I got a new Granddaughter that is so adorable. I am doing something new at work and loving it! I can say I look forward to going to work and really enjoy the people that I am working with. They are a really great bunch of people. Can you believe that they really work as a team with no gossiping about each other! I have to say that the manager is outstanding and it shows in the rest of the team. I have heard it said “A team is only as good as their leader.” I really landed a great team leader and team. She does lead by example and that is really a great way to lead. Yes, there a few items that could be improved upon (not living in a total fairy tale world). For the first time (in a great number of years) working for this company the positive is way greater then the negative!
I am not making in new years resolutions this year. I am going to continue with last years so does that count as a new one. I started last year’s resolution in November and I am still going strong. I turned off the old boob tube. Turned it off end of October and haven't missed it. We are talking a person that could tell you what was on every channel and would watch three to four shows at one time. I had someone say “well you are on your computer that is why you can do it.” At least if I am on line I am learning something and researching news items not taking them at face value. Oh well some people have to try so hard to find the negative in your accomplishment. Put you down and trivialize your accomplishment.So here is to a new year and wish you all love, joy and happiness for 2009.

We should give the raise!

U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett of South Caroline has said that he will donate his $4,700 salary increase that will begin in 2009 to Anderson Interfaith Ministries. The organization of churches and individuals who provide assistance to people in need and help them to become self-sufficient.

This is all well and good and I would hope that others will fallow and donate to a charity in their districted. But the thing that HAS to be done here and now is to end this “automatic pay raise”.

We all know that this “automatic” pay raise was put into effect for one reason and one reason only… They know that it is wrong in so many ways that they can vote themselves their own raises.
They do have to vote to stop the raise. You know they wait until it is too late then tell their constituents “I was so busy trying to (fill in the blank) that it slipped my mind.” Sure and I also believe that a spaceship is going to come to earth and take away all the hippies from Seattle.

Why isn’t the congress given a year evaluation like most working people? As of right now the approval rating of this congress so low I think (no I am positive) that this congress would owe us all money. This really would not be a hard thing to accomplish. You would have forms send out that would include a statement from the congress person highlighting what has been completed that year and what is pending at that time All committees and number of meetings attended, and “fact finding” trips and what facts were learned. The rating system could be done on a scale of like 1 - 5 five being the highest and one the lowest. Any rating of three or less would have a place to fill out as to why the person felt the low rating was deserved. Yes I know there would have to be an accounting firm set up to enter the date and give the rating. From that the raise is decided.

So if you had a rating system of 1 – 5. 1 being the lowest 5 the highest any rating below a 3 would have a place to express the reason for the low rating. This would all so help to keep the congress people in touch with their constituents.

Please keep in mind this is right of the top of my blonde head and needs a lot of work. But, everyone needs to keep this is mind at all times “WE ARE THEIR BOSSES and THEY’RE THE EMPLOYESS!” They work for us.
This and term limits are just two of the items that really need to be worked on. And for all of you out there saying “This will never work.” Never say never. Some stranger things have been done on Capital Hill.

Help! Global Warming is burning me alive!

The Pacific Northwest had it first big snow in a very long time. As I know you most likely heard by now (if not come out from under your rock). The city of Seattle in all there fine wisdom did not salt or deice the hills of Seattle. Instead they used a method called “snow packing”. If you are not familiar with this “environmentally friendly” way of clearing roads of snow let me try and explain this insane method. Speaking as a person that HAS to drive the hills for work and not a job that can wait until the snow melts I was on them sliding from one curd to the other, but blissfully happy that the world is safe for another BILLION YEASRS (to bad I may not see next Friday).
Not wanting to use salt (it will run off into Puget Sound “SALT WATER”) and no metal blades on snow plows (tear up roads) to witch I pay taxes to fix anyway. The self righteous fools of the city of Seattle went with “SNOW PACKING”.
(Or as I call it ice rink making.) This is wear the hills and downtown area of Seattle are turned into sheets of packed snow and ice in other words environmentally friendly ice rinks for cars. The bright sides I now know what those little car with 2 seats that fell off some carnival rides are good for they are light and small less damage to your car when they slide into you! Sorry ADD off subject again). The city is shut down (did I mention that roads to HOSPITALS are done in the same manor!) With really no way to drive the steep hills because everyone was shamed into not owning 4x4 or trucks and if you think that any other vehicle can get around you have been sniffing the white out. Then again a good dog sled team to mush your way up the hills could work if the PETA freaks do not see you. Before you could yell Double tall Latte they would have you hitched to the sled and the dogs along for the ride. Oh when will this people go back to their mother ship and leave this world? Dumb ass PETA people! The Green people are waiting for you on the ship. GO NOW).
So we now have those Nazi trucks and killer SUVs on the hills and those smart as slugs people with chains on their front wheels and no freaking clue how to drive with chains on their car. And of course METAL CHAINS won’t damage the streets. Now, to all you slug brain fools who don’t understand this CHAINS ARE NOT FOR ICE!!! Maybe if you would take a few moments to read the instructions you got with the chains (and yes there are pictures) you might get a clue as to what the chains are designed to do and NOT do (dumb ass)!
I have a theory as to the really reason the city of Seattle is snow packing and not going with the methods used in city where snow come every year and they have had practice working out the most effective way to clear street and make them safe to drive. The city of Seattle went with the method that really if you think about it is NOT going to do diddle shit for the “environment” is very plan that I am so scarier I figured it out, Simple put the city will make MORE money! How you ask? They will get a cut of the profits from all the damage done to cars, towing cost, hotel room rented (because people could not get home) and all the other many cost that we tax paying end up bending over and taking it up the ass. While the city slug brains smile laughing knowing that they saved even more money not having to use Vaseline while they stick it to us!
We the people of the greater Seattle area are tired of being the fools in the eyes of the world. Hell! Even Abu the use camel salesman is busting a gut at the Seattle idiots. He could clean the streets of snow for no money down!
Shit fire the “leaders” of this county try saving the environment another time and place. Not during a time were safety is concerned. It only snows once every cold day in hell I would think we could just use the proven method its when it does snow (during are GLOBAL WARMING) and I promise if Puget Sound dries up from the extra salt You can point your fingerer at me and say “I told you so with a little dance’!!!!!!

There are several contributing factors that have put this country into the economic crises we are now facing. I never majored in economics and will don't really comprehend money. As should say as far as investing interest rates etc... The minutia details are a foreign concept to me, so I will not blow a bunch of smoke up your ass acting like I have all the answers.

This is what I do know. That in order to get the mess that are elected officials have gotten us into (and now are so kindly willing to get us out of) will have to start with something that is so basic and elementary people that are elected officials will turn their noses up and tell us how that will never work.

Now, why do you think I would say something like that? Very simply put, “They won’t have a life time career with all the perks of voting yourself a pay raises, free travel, retirement (way better then most American will get), and medical and dental I could go on for a long, long time. But, I won’t because I know you are all well informed citizens of this great country with “commonsense
.

The main reason (and there are several) term limits would help this country’s economic quagmire we are in (and the several other problems they have made for this nation) would be to take away their incentive to keep making these gratuitous tax payer sucking unnecessary problems so that they then can play the hero and fix it!

When a person is first running for office they always have a few items they want to get accomplished. But once they get to Washington they find that in order to get anything done they have to have been in congress YEARS. Why is that? We have over the years aloud these elected officials to manipulate the system so that when they are up for reelection they can say that “Given another term as your Senator I will have put my time in and have the clout to accomplish what you needed me to do.”

Now, this speech is not going to last for too long before someone starts to catch on. This is the trouble begins. I think term limits on ALL branches of Government really should be an acted. This will include House 3 terms, Senate 2 terms and The Supreme Court (15 years is all the appointment should be one time only). The court I can’t believe she went there. Well, I did! When the founding fathers came up with a life time appointment they thought people would be living this long. Enough with the drooling old farts being propped up so as to wait for liberal president to replace them. If you think about it following the rules of the court their job is to “INTERPETE “the Constitution not rewrite. Limit their time on the bench.

I have been on line all day and this is the first I am posting. I have been twittering all day. If you have not tried it you really should check it out. I have been visiting some blogs that I would not have seen before. There are some really nice and interesting people to share ideas with. I posted the following comment to a story at: http://geekpolitics.com/ (geek politics) very well done and enjoyable site. There was a story about Caroline Kennedy, Blagojevich, and Special Elections (http://geekpolitics.com/caroline-kennedy-blagojevich-and-special-elections/#comment-296). It got to think about what are founding fathers had in mind about people serving in public office. I think that now is the time for a push for term limits in this country.
This is the comment I wrote: The time is now for all Americans to band together and get term limits for ALL elected offices. Being a Politician will no longer be a lifetime career rather a service to ones country. I am really sick of people like Biden 36 years in office for what? If you can not accomplish what it is you need done in a two term limited you will not get it done no matter how long you are in office. The elected government offices have become a job like any other were it goes from parent to child as if it were the family run diner or any family run business. If we do not get term limits and stop this Washington insider crap we the people will never have a say in anything that are elected officials do. You can already see that they do what THEY want and not what their constituents want done. The bail out is a great example. I understand that we do not get all the facts to everything. But is it not their job to report to us and tell us why they did what they did? And not lie about it?
I would really like to know what you all think about this idea.
Do think term limits would be good for this country or not? Please let me know what you think.

US Navy's robot stealth carrier plane unveiled Mav and Iceman headed for the dole queue

"The X-47B will demonstrate how unmanned combat aircraft can operate from aircraft carriers ... extending the carrier's reach and power projection from anywhere in the world," said Captain Martin Deppe, of the US Navy.
The X-47B project will provide just two demonstrator aircraft, mainly intended to prove that unmanned planes can successfully take off from and land onto US carriers. Catapult launch - and even more so, arrested landings - have traditionally been considered one of the most difficult and stressful piloting feats.
Apart from proving the concept of unmanned carrier aircraft, however, the X-47B will also be able to conduct air-to-air refuelling - giving it almost unlimited endurance. The US Navy hasn't asked for more, but in fact the aircraft would have little difficulty carrying weapons and flying autonomous strike missions, as it is derived from a previous joint programme between the navy and air force intended to produce a plane which could do just that.

The people that are not in the Congress are a big bunch of MONEY WHORES! Why do the majority of people keep voting them back into office? This is just another good reason there should be term limits…

Do the people not understand that the problem facing this country is NOT totally the fault of the Bush administration? That it is the Congress who has the majority of the power and had the power to STOP this mess. This is the mess they made and now get more money to fix it. Where are Reid and Pelosi now? Why are they not out in front of the cameras telling the American people how great their party is and why this was done?
I say take them all out and start over with people (average Americans) who understand how to spend money wisely.
Why do they waste time doing up a budget and then do not follow it? Someone tell me the in the hell we stop this fast moving train that is heading straight towards the bowels of HELL!

As you have most likely heard Seattle got snow. Now when you are a kid this would be a great thing to have happen. But as we grow older we learn the truth about snow it “SUCKS”. When I left for work yesterday there was only a bit of snow left from the weekend not enough to crawl back into bed and call in to work. I get to work and when after about 2 hours look out the window and it is snowing and my car is already covered. I am only working a half day anyway and the company car has snow tires so no big thing. I finish a bit after noon and thought I would hang around and get some of my Christmas cards done. I left at about 1330hrs. I got no more then 4 blocks from work when I hit a patch of ice and went all over the rode. I ended up in the parking “G” came to rest just inches from several parked cars. Now I tried yelling at the car to stop and learned that really doesn’t work. I got out praying that there would be no damage or maybe a few scratches. No way would that happen. My rim broke in two places and of course the tire so flat it looked like my “G” was were Vietnam sandals. So there I am blocking the exit to the parking lot totally pissed off and knowing my “G” (car) has a lot of trouble on icy roads. At least my brother was home and could come and get me and I had a warm dry place to wait for him. Now to have my baby towed to a place to get a new tire and rim put on.Oh why can’t it be like it used to be when it snowed and your biggest problem was tying to find your gloves and hat?

U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK), ranking member of the Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, today released the oversight report “2008: Worst Waste of the Year.” The look back on 2008 features absurd federal spending from beltway bureaucrats and elected officials.
“As we look back on federal spending for 2008, American taxpayers will laugh, and then cry at how their elected officials spent their hard-earned dollars. Not even these tough economic times have dulled Congress’ ability to find new and creative ways to waste taxpayer dollars,” Dr. Coburn said.
Examples of waste in 2008 include:
• $188,000 for Lobster Institute in Maine, home of the “LobsterCam”
(This could be good if you add some lemon and butter)

• $1 million for bike paths on Louisiana levees while levees await basic repairs
(Look at the bright side… If the levees do break there would be just that many less BIKE
FREAKS on the roads!)

• $2.4 million for a retractable shade canopy at a park in West Virginia
(Why not plant a tree? Or at least wait until the end of summer sale at Wal-
Mart and get it for half the original price…)

• $24.6 million for the National Park Service’s 100th year birthday in 2016 - 8 years early

(Well shit fire! No wonder there have been so many forest fires! Who wants 8 years add to their

• $3.2 million on a blimp the Pentagon does not want

Yet, each example in this report is a snapshot that tells a larger story, just as the Bridge to Nowhere justifiably became a symbol of the corrupting nature of earmarks. The story the American people already understand is that Congress’ inability to make common sense decisions about spending priorities is putting our children’s future at risk. Until Congress abandons the short-term parochialism that gives us LobsterCams and inflatable alligators, we will never get a handle on the major economic challenges facing this country,” Dr. Coburn said.

They drink too much and they're too fat to fight, that's the damning conclusion of German parliamentary reports into the country's 3,500 troops stationed in Afghanistan.
While British and U.S. troops in the country face a strict ban on alcohol, their German comrades are allowed two pints a day.
The stunning statistics reveal that in 2007 German forces in northern Afghanistan drank 1.7million pints of beer and 90,000 bottles of wine.
The troops also downed 896,000 pints of beer in the first six months of this year, the Times reported.

At the time Reinhold Robbe, the parliamentary commissioner for the armed forces, stated: 'Plainly put, the soldiers are too fat, exercise too little, and take little care of their diet.'
The Times also reported the damning allegation from a senior officer that Germany is failing in its main mission to train the Afghan police. He descibed the efforts as 'a miserable failure'.
Since 2001, 28 German soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan.

SEDALIA, Mo. — A Sedalia hunter bagged a big buck on the second day of firearms season, but the kill caused him a lot of pain.
Forty-nine-year-old Randy Goodman said he thought two well-placed shots with his .270-caliber rifle had killed the buck on Nov. 19. Goodman said the deer looked dead to him, but seconds later the nine-point, 240-pound animal came to life.
The buck rose up, knocked Goodman down and attacked him with his antlers in what the veteran hunter called "15 seconds of hell." The deer ran a short distance and went down, and died after Goodman fired two more shots.

WOW! What a morning this has been,
While checking out the news of the day I had some time so I was link surfing some of the sites. The places this will take you talk about a “wild ride” that is crazy. So, there are I am just flying thru different links when I found myself at the “PAMELAANDERSON OFFICIAL SITE” and still not sure how I got there.
It is like a train wreck you can not help yourself you have to watch. So I start reading what this very intelligent well read Hollywood slut has to say.
First she recommends some books for Obama to read. One of them is The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism. I had to wonder does she not understand that it is because of capitalism you over silicone boob like her can get a job making money for “whoring herself out to the highest bidder?”
Then she goes on to say:
“Please get rid of this private insurance and private health care system- it’s corrupt and doesn’t work-Government should take over both those areas- supplying secure government jobs where people are dedicated to their job and it is a proven system- Canada etc- supplying proper insurance to everyone – It’s much easier and government should supply these services for the taxes we pay- we would all be protected- pharmaceuticals would be affordable- to those that need it/especially our elderly- see that everyone has car insurance (there should not be an uninsured driver on the road) and health insurance- the same for everyone- isn’t this what we pay taxes for?”
So she thinks that the Government should take over insurance and health care. Great this would be the same Government that controls those very successful programs like Medicare, Social Security and Welfare just to name a few. The same people that take money from groups like Fannie May and Freddie Mack (again just to name a few) then fall to hold them accountable for their business practices.
Wants us to have a health care system like Canada? This is a country wear the Government decides who and what procedures maybe worth the “money” to have done. That is why you will find a lot of Canadians crossing into the United States for treatment.
Oh please “Bitch” and all of the other people that keep saying how great the Canadian system is MOVE there and enjoy that system…
My favorite advice she has for the new president is this one:
“Please Shut down Guantanamo Bay-figure it out- make amends/stop torture- it’s time for peaceful solutions- and cooperation world wide sharing resources and protecting each other- education, missionary work- bring the world together help each other- with resources now- its considered a very small place- We are each other’s keeper no matter what side of the border we were born-nobody is less than.”
You can tell by this statement she is so well informed and knows what she is talking about (NOT!). Talk about an ignorant fool. At what point after 9/11 (and even before that date) did she get the idea that these poor misunderstood people just wanted have world peace? They were not bothering any other person just living the motto of their country “Let everyone live their own lives and have peace and love for all of mankind.”
When out of no where the Bush administration woke up one morning with nothing better to do then go in and remove them from the bosom of their families put them in to a tortures place, were they have no access to medical treatment, food, or even getting to practice their religion of peace and tolerance for all mankind.

I am back now had to take a break. I was going to go on about this brainless, ignorant, puke spiting disciple of the leftist crazies. But while I was having some tea I was reading about the militant attacks in Mumbai that left nearly 200 people dead. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the dead and to the survivors who now have to live with the images every day for the rest of their lives. God Bless you all.

Canadian newspaper... Canadian prisoner, too fat for cell, released early
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canadian prison authorities were forced to release a 450-pound (205 kg) drug gang member this week because he was too large for his cell, the Journal de Montreal newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Michel Lapointe -- known as Big Mike -- was arrested in September 2006 and received a five-year sentence in May this year. The paper said he could not fit on the chair in his Montreal prison cell and when he went to bed, his body protruded six inches on either side.
A letter from the authorities to Lapointe said: "You have been detained for more than 25 months and your prison conditions are difficult because of your health".
The authorities also cited the refusal of two other facilities to accept the 37-year-old. He was freed late on Tuesday.
"I'm going to have a proper bed and finally have a chair I can sit in," he told the paper outside the prison.
"I want a normal life. I've done some stupid things and I've paid for them," he said.

So how is it going with you all? My best friend (sister) Laura. We met when are husbands were deployed for Desert Storm. We lived in housing across from each other. Anyway I found out Friday morning from Sarah J that she was having her lymph glands removed (in the groin area) on Monday. SJ said that she was waiting to tell because she knows I would be here. Therefore, instead of having a week or two to get a ticket and time off I had two days. I did learn that I don't mind flying its getting on the plane. I packed and surprised myself that I was organized. So I thought! Trying to get my bags checked I dropped stuff out of my bag and basically I was one of those people you can't stand being behind in line. On to security, I stopped to get my ID and ticket out (I had too much to keep it out) when Got thru the first check and then while I was taking my shoes off I felt like I forgot something. I stepped aside and checked my stuff and my new perfume was gone (got it from Tiffany $100.) So I grabbed my stuff and made a run back to were I had stop and (no shoes) there it was on the seat. Back to go thru the first check again. Dump my stuff for x-ray and of course I set off the evil machine. Back thru and again. Once again, that sound that I totally hate hears to when I know I have nothing on me that was metal so I had no idea why this was happening. Now I have to go behind the screen. I had to answer all these question. The only thing going for me is I got almost 4 hours. So I wasn't getting upset I had time. Finally, they were going let me go. I think with all the questions the determined I wasn't a terrorist (LOL LOL dopy them LOL LOL) On to gate. The chick that was in line at the ticket counter was also going Chicago so we got to talking. On Southwest it is open seating. So we found seats together. Made a new friend. She was on her way to DC were husband is stationed. She is from Tacoma. Got her e mail address so we could stay in touch. When I got Midway I had a three hours so I was walking to her gate. She wanted to step out and have a smoke. Now, I know better than to go with her but we were having a nice talk. So to get back in had to go to run the gantlet of security. This was different then at SeaTac. There I had to take my lap top out of the case. Great more stuff to carry to the chairs. I already am dropping everything. And really pissing the people off behind me. The security people were getting upset too. Finally got on my flight. Made it to Raleigh. Called Laura and of course she is "on her way.” She was sounding so stress and I told her no big deal. I had said I would take the shuttle to Bragg (I should have I met some REALLY great guys I would have gladly paid $60. to ride to Bragg with them to Bragg ) (Sorry about that Aunt Linda) I got to NC (Fort Bragg) on Sunday. Thank God! Never thought I would look forward to seeing that place again. Laura had friends that had said they would give a ride to the hospital and back. However, she is alone in the house and I felt she really need someone with her 24/7 and I had met these people last last summer (not the sharpest knifes in the draw). Took her in Monday morning. Of course Monday morning everyone that had said they would be never showed up. It was the Army doctors that had said the cancer was in lymph glands (she was being tested for skin caner) they had her go to a doctor in Fayetteville THANK GOD! When the doctor came out to tell me how it went, I was told it was a Hernia. Thank you lord! So she is scheduled next month to go to Chapel Hill for skin graphs for the "skin cancer" and today she got a call and was told its not cancer. So ever prays were answered. I was going to try and get my flight changed to come back a week early. We are really busy at work and Mike did me a big favorer letting me off. It cost more than the tickets did to change. So I will stay the two weeks. However, other then that nothing really going on in my life (HA HA HEE HEE). How are all doing? More later.

YES! It is my very own. I want a place where I can talk about the things that seem to be of some importance to me (and maybe a few friends) at the moment of posting them. Just for those that have no clue as to who I am (all that know me will back me on this one) I have a very limited attention span. I will start one thing loss interest and move on. Just sit back and go with it. The ride is never that long anyway.
I will now post this as I need to get stuff ready for the week.
